ELABORATION OF
THE PERSONALITIES
OVER TIME,
personalities may
-
change from having very protective roles such
as screening out unbearable experiences to having their own independent
objectives;
-
acquire new functions or roles.
Each time a
personality is “out” or in control, he may put all of his experiences into a
life history. So he has more memories and may increase the ways he behaves in
the world as well as add to his emotions.
Dr. Richard
Kluft (see BOOKS, ARTICLES) points out that personalities may not
be very distinct from one another in childhood but they might become more so in
adulthood. So a personality is elaborated over time until there is more marked
distinctness between the personalities.
