At least one
half to two-thirds of multiples have at least one personality who is the
opposite gender.
Many times they cross-dress – i.e., women wear pants, men wear dresses.
They
may be responsible for a unisex or androgynous look.
Often women with multiple personality will have short hair and wear shirts and pants in order to make the male personalities feel more comfortable.
Dr. Colin Ross
says that often the male personalities are protectors of some sort.
The opposite
gender personalities may embody a homosexual drive of the multiple. For
example, I am female but I have male personalities who are attracted to women,
which makes me a lesbian by definition. However, these male personalities of
mine are heterosexual.
Sometimes
Peggy Lou [one of Sybil’s personalities]
used to say that she was a boy and that her name was Mike. Whenever she thought
she was a boy, she wore blue coveralls and a red sweater and did things with
tools. She played like the boys and tried to do everything that boys do. But
then she would get mad because she knew she wasn’t. (Sybil see BOOKS, ARTICLES)
